BCITS is proud to be a Network Partner in the new BC Personal Supports Network. Our first project is called EATI–the Equipment and Assistive Technology Initiative. If you're a person with a disability who has employment-related goals (or volunteer goals leading to employment), you may be eligible for funding for assistive devices. EATI provides a source of funding for assessment, trialing, purchasing and/or training with equipment and assistive devices that:
People with disabilites have different needs when emergencies, such as fires or earthquakes, strike our communities.
Over the past few years, the BC Coalition of People with Disabilities (BCCPD) has been working with a broad network of disability organizations and people with disabilities to build relationships with the emergency management sector–to identify and better meet the needs of people with disabilities. BCITS has been part of this working group and we would like our clients to be aware of–and use–the resources BCCPD has created.

A.J. Brown started to explore various arts in 1999 as a way to overcome personal fears. She had a brain injury during birth that caused her to become Deaf and to have a condition that resembles Cerebral Palsy. As a result, she has difficulty speaking and using sign language. She uses a portable communication device, Lightwriter, which speaks for her when she types out words in written English. Your can see some of her art online at http://www.handsandpurrs.ca.
